The fire, which started from the Les Sigues rest area on the motorway near the town of Gonfaron on Monday afternoon, and arrived in the evening in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez where it continued to spread due to strong winds, has destroyed 5,000 hectares.

Throughout the night, evacuations continued to bring residents and holiday makers in the most threatened areas to safety.

At 3 a.m., the campsites in the Parc des Chênes, were evacuated to La Croix-Valmer.

The Air France holiday village in Gassin was evacuated,

According to the prefecture, the Charlemagne campsite in Grimaud has completely burned down.

Several roads were closed to traffic to allow emergency services to intervene: the RD 33, 75, 558, 14, 27, and the RD 98 in the direction of La Môle Cogolin,

750 firefighters are involved in the fight against the blaze. Flights of 4 Canadairs resumed this morning at 7 am.
