Meeting - Thursday June 15th saw a new meeting take place in Monaco with the Committee for the Coordination and Monitoring of the National Strategy to Combat Money Laundering, the Financing of Terrorism and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Corruption. Chaired by Monaco’s Minister of State, Pierre Dartout, the meeting covered the implementation of a national action plan for each objective, actions adopted with specific plans for the authorities and services as well as the finalization of the update of the non-profit organization (NPO) risk assessment report. The committee plays a central role in the coordination and monitoring for all matters relating to the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, a priority for the Principality.

The Principality takes part in Global Immunisation conference in Madrid - In other news in Monaco, the Principality has also taken Part in the Global Immunization Conference Organized by the GAVI Alliance and the Spanish Government in Madrid. A Monegasque delegation, made up of H.E. Ms. Catherine FAUTRIER ROUSSEAU, Ambassador of Monaco to Spain, and Ms. Emilie SILVESTRE, Program Coordinator of the Department of International Cooperation, took part in the world conference on vaccine impact organized in Madrid, June 13-15, by the GAVI Alliance and the Spanish Government. The GAVI Alliance is a public-private fund whose objectives are the financing, purchase and provision of vaccines, particularly in the most disadvantaged countries. The GAVI alliance played a fundamental role during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly in the implementation of the COVAX program. The Principality has been a member since 2016.

The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of this unprecedented health crisis, but also to carry out an in-depth reflection on the implementation of a vaccination management system on a global scale making it possible to eradicate certain diseases and anticipate, more effectively, the occurrence of future pandemics.

And - Congratulations! The Monaco Basketball team have made history after winning its first French Cup. Sasa Obradovic's Roca Team came back from almost nowhere to clinch the first title in their history after losing four finals! The Roca Team won in front of 15,000 spectators on the Centre Court of Roland Garros. ASM Basket therefore remains undefeated in these 2022-2023 play-offs (7 matches - 7 wins), a first since Limoges in 1988. The Principality is celebrating!

The history of basketball in Monaco began in 1928 with the creation of AS Monaco‘s first basketball section. Monegasque basketball players won their first titles from 1950 onwards, including a ranking as vice-champions of France at National 1 level (the current Jeep Elite).
