Man run over and killed on motorway - A man in his forties has been run over by a vehicle on the A 50 motorway in Marseille. The accident happened at around 5 a.m. this Monday morning. The pedestrian was on the A 50 motorway, at the Timone exit, in the Toulon-Marseille direction. The victim died on the spot. The reason as to why the individual was walking on the edge of the motorway lanes is not yet known. According to the National Interministerial Observatory for Road Safety, 32 pedestrians died in 2021 hit by a car or heavy goods vehicle on a motorway. Pedestrians are not allowed to walk on the motorway, and in the event of a breakdown, you have to get to safety behind the rails to reach the emergency terminals. It is estimated that people who take the risk of walking along the strip have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 minutes.
