Recent research has suggested that children who clown around in the classroom may actually be one of the smartest children in the room.

Scientists tested the funny-bones of 217 children in Turkey of different IQs by asking them to generate jokes for 10 comics. Each of their contributions was then scored by a panel of scientists and cartoonists.

Once all of the final scores were tallied, experts found the more intelligent children outperformed their peers in every way. Academics believe intelligent people have a better grasp of humour because they understand how to subvert people's expectations.
