Twelve people arrested in Nice - Twelve people have been arrested in Nice following a police raid this morning. The operation was organised in the east of the city near the route de Turin. The raid which was part of an ongoing investigation and led to weapons and narcotics being seized.

Ferrero recall - Ferrero has recalled its Kinder products over suspected salmonella. Certain batches of Kinder chocolate products distributed in France and made in Belgium are believed to have a "potential" link with cases of salmonella. In a statement released on Monday the Italian group said, “it was working with the public authorities” and that so far, none of their Kinder products placed on the French market had tested positive for salmonella. The group however is "voluntarily" recalling a series of products made in Belgium. A spokeswoman for the company said that the recall, two weeks before Easter, covers the equivalent of hundreds of tons of chocolate. For full details on the products concerned go to rivieraradio.mc

“MonPsy” - Today sees the launch of the “MonPsy” platform in France which offers people psychological support for free. Announced by French President Emmanuel Macron during the Mental Health Conference last September the platform will allow those who need to, benefit from eight sessions with a psychologist, all reimbursed by the Health Insurance.

Intended for the general public, "MonPsy" is aimed at all those "suffering from depressive and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, as well as people suffering from addictions. To date, more than 1,300 practitioners have applied to register on the platform.

9 out of 10 French people have a traditional bank - A recent study carried out and published today, has shown that more than 9 out of 10 French people have a traditional bank as their main bank, with few changing banks. While online banks and new payment players are multiplying and shaking up the banking industry the vast majority of French people remain loyal to traditional banks. 93% of French people have a traditional bank as their main bank, compared to 6% for online banks, such as Boursorama or Fortuneo, and 1% for "neobanks", which generally only offer a current account.

38% say they do not trust online banks, the same proportion admits to staying in their bank because "they don't have time to change", and 28% prefer to have a bank branch. On the other hand, 4 out of 10 people have bank accounts in several establishments.

80% of motorists use phone at the wheel - Meanwhile a second study also published today on road safety has revealed that 80% of motorists in France use their phone while driving. 52% of French drivers make a call while driving and 34% use their mobile to send or consult a message. According to an American study conducted in 2009 by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI), the risk of an accident is multiplied by 23 when writing a message while driving.
