TER train hits four people leaving three dead - Three people have died, and one is seriously injured after being hit by a TER train in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in the Pyrénées Atlantiques. A TER train connecting Hendaye to Bordeaux hit four people just before 6 a.m. this morning Tuesday, October 12, 500 meters from Saint-Jean-de-Luz station, in the town of Ciboure, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

According to local media the victims were lying on the tracks when the TER arrived. SNCF reports people "present" on the tracks, without being able to specify whether or not they were lying on the tracks. The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. The judicial police must now determine the circumstances of the facts and determine whether or not it is an accident.

Bank merger - Société Générale and Crédit du Nord will cut 3,700 jobs by 2025 as part of their merger. The Societe Generale group has announced 3,700 net job cuts between 2023 and 2025, as a result of the creation of its new retail bank from the merger of its network with that of Crédit du Nord. In a press release this morning the group said that "these job cuts will be based on natural departures (estimated at 1,500 per year by 2025) and the priority given to reclassifications and internal mobility,"

The Société Générale group said that the organization of its new retail bank in France is based on "a complete merger" of the two retail banks Crédit du Nord and Société Générale: "A single bank, with a single network, a single head office, and a single computer system, serving nearly 10 million customers and with more than 25,000 employees”.

The bank will benefit from "a territorial network of 1,450 branches ensuring the maintenance in the same cities as today". In total, the two networks held some 2,100 at the end of 2020, sometimes close to each other.

Sea unchin fishing season postponed - Authorities in the Alpes Maritimes and the Var have postponed the date for the beginning of sea unchin fishing due to their "scarcity".
