Dead body discovered following house fire in Le Lavandou - A dead body has been discovered after a house fire in Le Lavandou in the Var. Firefighters intervened shortly before midnight on Wednesday January 5th, at a detached house located on Rue Van Rysselberg. The fire was quickly brought under control, ahead of the body being discovered. The victim has not yet been identified and an investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.

White march in memory of Lisa T - A white march has been organised for this Sunday 9th January in Nice, in memory of Lisa T who was killed by her ex-companion at New Year. The 45-year-old mother of four had been strangled. Her body was later discovered in the boot of a car on the Boulevard de La Madeleine in Nice. The crime was the third femicide to occur in France this New Year. The march will begin at 1pm and will start from the address of where the drama took place and head towards the beach of Magnan. The ex-companion has been in police detention since Monday, indicted for murder.

Police dismantle drugs network in Nice - Police in Nice have dismantled a drugs network on the boulevard Pasteur. On Wednesday January 5th 70 police officers made fifteen arrests and searched fourteen apartments. 22 kg of cannabis, 110,000 euros in cash, weapons and a vehicle were seized.

French Prime Minister says he hopes new vaccine pass will come into force on January 15th - French Prime Minister, Jean Castex has said this morning during an interview that he “sincerely hoped the vaccine pass would come into force in France on January 15th”. After three days of debates, fuelled by controversial remarks by Emmanuel Macron, the National Assembly adopted in the early hours of this morning the bill transforming the health pass into a vaccine pass. The bill must now be examined by the Senate early next week.
