Deaths linked to heatwave increase in France - France’s Public Health Agency has announced that more than 5,000 deaths in 2023 in France, were linked to the heatwaves. Three deaths out of 100 observed during the summer were attributable to the heat, which represents a little more than 5,000 deaths, mainly among those over 75. Last summer was indeed the fourth hottest summer ever observed in France. The heatwaves of 2023 were particularly notable for arriving later than usual and being the longest occurring in August and September.
