Carpentras and Pertuis Hospitals will be Temporarily Closed this Summer

The emergency departments of Carpentras and Pertuis hospitals will be temporarily closed this summer. Other hospitals in the Vaucluse region will continue to offer 24/7 emergency services.

Each summer, the Vaucluse hospital sector struggles to handle the influx of patients due to tourism and a shortage of doctors. Hospitals find it difficult to secure replacements during the holiday period.

In Carpentras, an adapted protocol will be implemented to avoid full closure on July 13 and August 2, focusing only on critical emergencies due to staff shortages. In Pertuis, the emergency department will close completely for several nights, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 AM, on July 9-11, 16-19, 23, 24, and 30. August closure dates are not yet known.

The ARS reminds residents that medical guard houses are available 7 days a week in Orange, Carpentras, Cavaillon, Apt, Avignon, and SOS médecin in Pontet and Morières-Lès-Avignon.
