Greta Thunberg calls for “digital strike” - Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, instigator of "school climate strikes", has called to switch to a "digital strike" over the spread of the new coronavirus.

During pandemic period, gatherings are strongly discouraged. But mobilization is still possible online. The Swedish activist thus pleaded for a "digital strike" on social networks, seeing it as a new way of raising public awareness of the climate cause while avoiding any physical gathering.

To take part people are invited to join the #DigitalStrike for upcoming Fridays- post a photo of you striking with a sign and use the hashtag #ClimateStrikeOnline! #Fridaysforfuture #climatestrike # schoolstrike4climate 4/4

Meanwhile, the Swedish government announced on Wednesday that it would ban gatherings of more than 500 - the country currently has more than 450 cases and one death - following recommendations from the National Public Health Agency.
