Violence in schools - Speaking on French radio this morning the French Education Minister, Jean-Michel Blanquer has said that a decision will be taken at the end of January concerning the suppression of the family allowance to parents of violent children. The minister explained that, for the moment, nothing was decided and measures had been put in place including, security in and around schools and dedicated structures for the most violent students. The Minister of Education confirmed that he planned to punish parents for their children’s behaviour but added that “the financial penalties would not necessary relate to family allowances” and that this “would depend on the situation”.
