Primary school pupils set new tests as of today

Primary school pupils set new tests as of today - Students from CP to CE1 will today be set a number of tests in French and Mathematics. The new measure aims to improve support for students and monitor their progress. National assessments for CE1 and CM2 pupils had already existed since being were set up by Xavier Darcos, Minister of Education under Nicolas Sarkozy, in 2009. But they were abandoned in 2013 by Vincent Peillon, under François Hollande, who criticized their reliability. Tests will be for both levels in September and CP pupils will have to take further test in February.
