Poverty plan in France - French President Emmanuel Macron will today unveil his "strategy" to fight poverty in France. The head of state hopes to launch a new phase more focused on social action reportedly in an attempt to fight his image of "a president for the rich". The measures were expected in July but the head of state had decided at the last moment to postpone them. Figures show that in 2016 8.8 million French people lived below the poverty line with a third of single-parent families living in poverty. According to figures for 2015 2 million people who have a job have a standard of living below the poverty line and 2.79 million is the number of poor people under 18 representing nearly 20% of young French people living in families with low incomes. Finally the latest survey published on Tuesday shows that 21% of French people, that’s nearly one in five, are unable to eat a healthy diet.
