Monaco is preparing for the legendary Monaco Classic Week which will be held from September 13th to September 17th 2017. Once again, an exceptional collection of sailing and motor yachts will be moored in the Yacht Club Marina, including over 60 classic sailing boats, period motor-yachts and 40 vintage motor-boats. Plans include classic yacht races, regularity trials and speed contests, a Chefs Competition, Elegance Parades, and a host of other activities organised around the YCM’s Clubhouse.
The “I sail, I recycle” campaign is well underway for its second summer season in Monaco. This year the campaign is raising awareness amongst sailors at the Port of Fontvieille and Port Hercule. The aim of the campaign is to reduce litter at sea by handing out refuse collection bags to sailors. The bags are made of a biodegradable material, thus meeting the Principality’s environmental requirements. The harbour master’s offices at Fontvieille and Port Hercule, and the Yacht Club marina are issuing two refuse collection bags: one for waste which can be sorted and one for non-recyclable waste.
The initiative aims to encourage everyone to respect the marine environment, and also meets the commitments made by Monaco’s ports as part of the Clean Ports certification.
