Monaco’s Director of Public Security has revealed that between 2012 and 2016, Monaco’s general crime rate has dropped by 28% and street crime by 43%. Speaking at the same event, Prince Albert said that security has always been one of the strengths of the Principality, and it up to all of us to make a pact to preserve it. Afterwards, the Prince presented the Outstanding Services Clasp, for acts of courage and dedication, to 19 police officers who distinguished themselves in 2016 and 2017.
The schedule of events for this years St Devote celebrations have been revealed. They include a solemn Mass on Saturday to be attended by the Royal Family, the Prince's government, elected bodies and corporate bodies as well as many faithful. The previous evening, the traditional burning of the boat ceremony, will take place at St Devote Church at 7.30pm, followed by fireworks.
