Drugs based on codeine will now only be available on prescription in the Principality. Given the measures adopted in France, in response to addictive practices found in adolescents, the Monaco Government, as part of the addiction prevention policy for youth, adopted regulatory measures identical to those of our neighbouring country.
Pursuing bilateral cooperation between Monaco’s Department of Health and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health in Latvia, Professor Franco Borruto, a medical consultant to the Department here, was invited by Latvian counterparts to hold a conference in Riga on the measures required to be taken with regard to cervical cancer there. Cervical cancer has increased sharply in Baltic countries and has received special attention from the World Heath Organisation and Latvian authorities. Professor Borruto will demonstrate how Monaco’s preventative system is a model for Latvia.
