Mayor of Nice questioned as part of investigation

Mayor of Nice questioned as part of investigation - Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, has been interviewed by police officers following the investigation into the financing of the construction of the Allianz Riviera stadium. The stadium in Nice with more than 35,000 seats, inaugurated in September 2013 and managed by a subsidiary of the Vinci group, Nice Eco Stadium (NES), was built on the basis of a public-private partnership (PPP). A preliminary inquiry was opened in January 2015 by the National Public Prosecutor's Office, after a report from the Regional Chamber of Accounts (CRC) of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, which criticized in particular the legal conditions of the use of a PPP and the partner selection procedure. On the basis of this report, Anticor anticorruption association filed suit in May 2016.
