Ironman 70.3 - For the first time, France will host the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2019 and Nice has been chosen as the host city. 6000 athletes from all over the world are expected on September 7th and 8th, 2019 for the world championships in this exceptional discipline that combines swimming, cycling and running. It is a discipline similar to a triathlon but over greater distances. 70.3 is the distance in miles traveled by the athletes. They must swim 1.9 kilometers, cycle 90 kilometers and run 21.1 kilometers. It’s been reported that the total cost for the city is 600 000 euros and the President of the Alpes Côte d’Azur region Christian Estrosi has ensured that an enhanced security system will be put in place.
