Roads - The driver of a truck which collided with a car on the hard shoulder of the A8, killing the 60 year old driver, has been sentenced to 2 years in prison for careless driving. The incident happened between Frejus and Les Adrets at the end of March. Twelve people are recovering after their coach hit the rear end of truck on the A8 last night. They were on a school trip from the Park Imperial Lycee in Nice.  The driver is the most seriously injured while the students suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, an investigation into an accident on the A8 at Roqubrune Cap Martin, which killed a 21 year old woman on Saturday, has shown that the 30 year-old male driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol.

Restaurant - The owner of a Parisian restaurant, hit during the Paris terror attacks in 2015, faces a court sentence tomorrow for selling video of his customers panicking as the terrorists attacked the restaurant. It’s believed the owner received up to €50,000 for the video from the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.

Nursery - Nice City council has launched an online registration service for city schools. Families wishing to put their child's name down for any of Nice’s nursery schools, after school play centre services, school dinners and additional school tutoring, can do so on www.nice.fr.

The CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Meyer, will be paid $184m when the sale of the company to Verizon completes this year. The amount includes the value of shares already owned, outstanding share options and a golden parachute payment. Ms Mayer will leave the company when the sale goes through.

Wikipedia's co-founder Jimmy Wales is planning a news service that combines the work of professional journalists and volunteers. The hope is that Wiki-Tribune will offer factual and neutral articles that combat the problem of fake news. The service will be both ad-free and free-to-read, so will rely on supporters making regular donations.

SPORT

Football - Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale could miss crucial end-of-season games after suffering a calf injury at the Barcelona match during the weekend. Madrid describe the problem as a grade two injury but have not given a time frame for his absence. Real face Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final next Tuesday.

There’s 1 game in the English Premier League tonight where Chelsea hope to extend their lead to seven points again if they beat Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Rugby - England prop Ellis Genge has agreed a new contract with Leicester Tigers. The 22-year-old joined the team last year on loan, but now makes the the move permanent ahead of the season.
