Beach - The beach at Mandelieu La Napoule castle has been closed to the public until further notice due to excessive pollution in the water. Investigations are underway to identify the nature of the pollution and its origin.

Missing - Police in Menton are searching for an American woman believed missing for the past two weeks. Evelyn Garcia arrived in Nice on May 19th to make a permanent home on the Riviera. After staying at a number of hotels and AirBnB’s between Nice and Beausoleil, the 26 year-old woman then went missing on June 10th. Her bank accounts, phone and social media accounts have been untouched since. Anyone with information is asked to call police in Menton.

Shares in two of China's biggest conglomerates, Fosun International and HNA, have fallen about 6% today amid rumours that banks had been ordered to assess their loan exposure to them. The China Banking Regulatory Commission had told lenders to conduct assessments of their credit-risk exposure in an attempt to stem the flow of money leaving China. Last year, Fosun bought Wolverhampton Wanderers football club, while HNA is Deutsche Bank's biggest shareholder.

Athletics - It’s been confirmed that Usain Bolt will compete at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco on July 21st as part of his farewell tour. The Jamaican superstar will run the 100m in his first appearance at Stade Louis II since 2011, where he won the 100m in 9.88 seconds.

Rugby - Ireland flanker Peter O'Mahony is to skipper the British and Irish Lions in their game against the All Blacks in New Zealand on Saturday. It’s a phenomenal turnaround for O’Mahoney who wasn't even meant to be on this Lions tour. After battling injury, the Munsterman was a fringe player for Ireland in the Six Nations, and before the showdown with England in Dublin at the end of March, few would have expected him to be in Warren Gatland's thoughts. However, he played a blinder at that game, catapulting himself onto the plane to New Zealand/ Now, in the ultimate sporting 'sliding doors' moment, he is the Lions Test captain.
