Murder - A 32-year-old man has been charged with murdering his father-in-law on Saturday night. The incident happened during at Digne-les-Bains in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence when, during a row, the 52 year-old father was killed with a single gunshot to the chest.
Accident - Emergency services have been dealing with an accident on the RD98 at the Gar.cinières and the Grand Frais store in St Tropez. The collision between a car and a motorbike injured one person.
Nice - One of the founders of the association Promenade des Anges is to appear in court in Nice. The former spokesperson for the association, which was set up to help victims of the Nice attack, is accused of embezzlement. The news comes as the association and local authorities prepare the commemoration of the attack this Friday, July 14th.
France's Finance Minister has urged his European counterparts to do more to chase down tax, due on the European operations of Google, Amazon and Facebook. France had had Google under investigation for years and fiscal authorities have issued a consultative judgment, that Google should 1.1 billion euro in French taxes. Last May, Google agreed to pay 306 million euros to settle a tax dispute in Italy, where it was under criminal investigation for moving profits generated in Italy, to Ireland.
Chinese shipping giant Cosco is set to buy its Hong Kong rival O-OIL for $6.3bn. The deal will make Cosco the world's third biggest shipping company with more than 400 vessels. O-OIL's majority owner has accepted the bid, though the sale will still need regulatory approval. It would be the latest in a wave of mergers, which has left the top six shipping lines controlling almost two thirds of the market.
Johanna Konta has become the first British woman to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals since 1984, with a hard-fought win over France's Caroline Garcia 7-6 4-6 6-4.
