An anti-terrorist operation has been taking place on the Cote d’Azur today. Five people were arrested in the Menton area this morning. Four other suspects were arrested in the Paris area and the Bouches du Rhone and one other person in Switzerland. Local reports suggest that the arrests may be in connection with a plot to kill a police officer and civilians in Nice. It is thought that the arrests are a result of the monitoring by the authorities of a social media internet site apparently often used by jihadists.
A woman missing since Saturday has been located by police. 19 year old Fanny Bruno was discovered this afternoon still in her car in a ravine below the D97 road in Carnoules in the Var. According to reports, she had been trapped in her car for the last 3 days before being spotted by a cyclist earlier today.
A car accident in Sophia Antipolis during this morning’s rush hour has left the 20 year old driver seriously injured. The incident happened on the road between Mougins and Valbonne and resulted in the car rolling down an embankment. The driver was taken to the Pasteur Hospital in Nice.
Two hundred people staged a demonstration outside the administrative court in Nice earlier today. The demonstrators were residents of the Roya area who had come to support a decision made by their local mayors to ban large trucks from the area’s roads. The decision is being challenged in the administrative court by a group of road hauliers.
Toyota has announced that it expects profits for the full year to be 1.95 trillion yen (that about $17bn).
The forecast has been revised upwards by the company partly due to the weaker yen. Toyota is now assuming an exchange rate of 111 yen to the dollar, instead of 105 yen previously.

FOOTBALL… Three additional players have withdrawn from the England squad for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil. Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Jordan Henderson will not be in the squad, joining Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks who have already pulled out of the squad for the matches.
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is included in the team though.
England play Germany on Friday and Brazil on the 14th.
