Canicule - The Cote d’Azur is once again under a Meteó France heatwave alert, however this time not as severe as early August. The weather service say todays hotter than usual temperatures, could lead to violent storms in the mountains this evening. The alert is in place until midnight tonight.
Champagne - Champagne's grape harvest has started about two weeks earlier than usual this week. Around 120,000 seasonal workers have got to work in several villages of the Cote des Bar area. They say the ideal weather conditions, during the spring and summer this year, promise an excellent 2018 vintage.
Fireworks - The winner of this summer’s International Fireworks Competitions in Monaco have been announced, with Portugal, who performed on August 4th, taking the overall prize. They were narrowly beaten in the public vote where it was Bulgaria, who were the last of the teams to light up the skies over Monaco on August 11th, that stole the hearts of the public vote.
