Day 11 - Friday 24th May - The focus of the festival turned to the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc for the amfAR Gala, with stars such as Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria and Dua Lipa appearing on the red carpet. On the last day for competition screenings, the films are 'It Must Be Heaven' by Elia Suleiman and 'Sibyl' by Justine Triet. On the beach tonight, a free cine-karaoke session, where everyone can join in with some film musical favourites.
Day 10 - Thursday 23rd May - Dua Lipa, Mariah Carey, Tom Jones and The Struts will be performing at the amfAR Gala tonight, whilst the stars of the film 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' spoke to the press about their feelings on the film. Day 8 - Tuesday 21st May - Quentin Tarantino's film 'Pulp Fiction' screened at the Cannes Film Festival on this day in 1994. Today, 25 years later, Tarantino is back on the Croisette for the 72nd Film Festival. A much anticipated film in competition today with 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' as well as 'Parasite' directed by Bong Joon-ho. Listen to hear more from the day's events.
Day 7 - Monday 20th May - Two of the films at the festival are already being tipped for Oscar nominations - Rocketman and Pain and Glory, starring Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz. Day 4 - Friday 17th May - A real success for 'Rocketman' last night, which stole the show with a standing ovation and Ken Roach's film 'Sorry We Missed You' received rave reviews from the critics. Day 3 - Thursday 16th May - In today's report, listen to the British films that were in focus, including the screening of Ken Loach's new film 'Sorry We Missed You' which looks at the gig economy, and the much anticipated premiere of Dexter Fletcher's 'Rocketman' . Find out more also about the new film by French-Senagalese director Mati Diop, the first black female to have a film in competition at the festival.
Day 2 - Wednesday 15th May - Last night, the cast of 'The Dead Don't Die' were led down the catwalk by the film's director Jim Jarmusch and actress from the film Selena Gomez discussed the dangers of social media for young people. The Opening Ceremony was hosted by Javier Bardem and Charlotte Gainsbourg and the Palme d'Or jury presented itself to the press to discuss both festival and global politics., including the issue of representation of films by female directors. The open-air screenings, which are free and open to the public, start tonight on the beach.
